Richard S. Lord, PhD
Dr. Lord received his BS in Chemistry from Georgia State University and his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Texas in 1970. He then went on to complete postdoctoral fellowships at the Clayton Foundation Biochemical Institute, the University of Arizona, and the National Institute of Health. He served as president for Doctor's Data and Horizon Laboratories from 1974-1981.
For the next eight years, Dr. Lord was a Professor and Chairman in the Department of Chemistry for Life University where he was instrumental in the initiation and design of a BS degree in Nutritional Science.
Dr. Lord joined Metametrix in 1989 and has been actively involved in the development of new testing methodologies and innovative laboratory report combinations.
In addition to co-authoring the book, Laboratory Evaluations in Molecular Medicine, Dr. Lord also publishes technical articles, lectures, and consults with health professionals regarding the application of nutritional, metabolic assays to patient care.
Over the past three years, Dr. Lord has also become an active participant in the Defeat Autism Now! Think Tank, and the MINDD Foundation Think Tank, based in Sydney, Australia.
Dr. Sheila Dean, DSc,RD,LD,CCN,CDE
Dr. Sheila Dean, DSc,RD,LD,CCN,CDE is a registered and licensed dietitian, board certified clinical nutritionist, certified diabetes educator and exercise physiologist. Currently, Dr. Dean is the owner of Palm Harbor Medical Nutrition, a functional medicine and nutrition based private practice based in Palm Harbor, Florida.
An educator at heart, she has taught for 14 years as adjunct nutrition science professor and currently teaches at the University of Tampa. She has conducted dozens of local and national public presentations and has appeared on dozens of television interviews.
Dr. Dean is the new senior editor of the ADA publication The Health Professional’s Guide to Popular Dietary Supplements due out in September 2011. She is a contributing author of the medical textbook Integrative Gastroenterology published by Oxford University Press. She is also a contributing author of the clinical nutrition textbook Krause’s Food & Nutrition Therapy- 13th ed.
Dr. Dean currently serves on the advisory board for the nationally acclaimed Center For Mind-Body Medicine's Food As Medicine professional education course and was the Professional Advancement Director for the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine dietetic practice group of the American Dietetic Association. Dr. Dean is also the author of Nutrition & Endurance: Where Do I Begin?, (Meyer & Meyer Publishing).
Chester Price, Pharm.D.
Dr. Price has studied both natural and traditional medicine for over 15 years, which includes homeopathy, botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, and functional medicine. His traditional health care background combined with an understanding of a broad array of alternative modalities enables him to focus on a true integrative philosophy in health care.
Dr. Price received the Conrad L. Wich Prize which recognizes exceptional work in medicinal chemistry and pharmacognosy, upon graduation from Shenandoah University. He received his B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of Maryland and studied homeopathic medicine at the British Institute of Homeopathy.
Dr. Price previously served as the CEO of a branch hospital owned by Upper Chesapeake Health Systems, and currently is the co-owner of Healthy Options, a holistic, integrative health care center and pharmacy that houses a large array of multi-specialty health care providers, where he sees patients seeking complimentary or alternative care.
